About Me

Hi, I'm Kirsten! I've been a birth worker since 2016, when I was pregnant with my youngest child. The midwife supported home birth I had with him changed my life forever -- it was an empowering experience where I felt safe and loved by my birth team. That birth influenced my path as a birthworker: it is so important to me to do all I can to help my clients feel loved and supported, regardless of what happens during their birth.
I believe this saying is so true:
We can't pick our birth. But we can pick the people who support us in our birth.

I consider north Alabama home but my family is currently living in the Marshall Islands until 2024. I am grateful for distance learning enabling me to continue my MCU education while being overseas!

I am passionate about disparities in maternity care, specifically the Black maternal and infant mortality crisis that is most pertinent in Alabama, one of the most dangerous places for Black birthing people to have their babies.

I have worked extensively in the nonprofit world as Board President and founding board member for Alabama Cohosh Collaborative and Board Secretary and founding board member for ROE Center, both nonprofits centering reproductive healthcare and equity.

I want to create safe spaces for Alabama families to experience community midwifery care and the transformative qualities I believe out of hospital midwifery care holds.
