Every birth is sacred.

Kirsten Clark, certified birth doula

I'm here for you & your birth.

Whether you are having your first baby or your sixth, having good support through pregnancy, birth and postpartum is key to feeling empowered and positive about your birth and entrance into motherhood.

My passion is to support birthing people in finding their voice in birth, help partners feel included, and to bring comfort and a sense of safety into the birth room.

I have been supporting Huntsville families as a birth doula for almost six years; I attended my first doula birth while pregnant with my youngest child. It has been an honor to witness the strength of birthing people in all kinds of birth, from VBA4C to planned epidural to home birth to unmedicated hospital birth.

Every birth is sacred & every birther deserves to be honored and supported.

Birth doula

How I Doula

I bring honesty, sincerity, and humor into my work as well as deep empathetic listening and curiosity about what is important to you, as an expectant parent. Building deep relationships with my client families, in an informal and warm way, is one of my favorite parts of doula work.  I aim to fully educate my clients about what their options are in birth and to support them in walking forward into birth with full knowledge of their own power and rights. Because of that, I'm honest and upfront about the experiences I have working in hospitals locally and with different OBs and midwives so folks can think through a birth space & care provider that will best fit with their personal birth goals & needs.

It is important to me that my clients feel empowered with making their own decisions around birth. I work to equip folks with all the information they need to choose what they feel is best for themselves in their pregnancy and birth. I am experienced in supporting people planning any kind of birth, whether a planned Cesarean, a home birth, birth with an epidural, an induction, or an unmedicated hospital birth - and everything in between!

I love cracking jokes and keeping a sense of humor in the birth space and I also love bringing a sense of reverence and awe into the birth room. I believe that birth is a sacred and spiritual rite of passage, whatever your religious beliefs may be.

I believe in the mind-body connection in birth because I’ve seen firsthand that when you feel safe, loved, and supported, your labor progresses more smoothly and you have a more positive experience. I’ve also seen that when birthers feel afraid, unsupported, guarded, it can hinder or even shut down labor completely.

This is why I’m a huge proponent of building deep relationship with my clients. I believe that if we enter the birth space together and you feel like I’ve got your back 100% and am there for whatever you may need, you’re going to open up and let your body do what it needs to do in a beautiful way.

Birth Philosophy

BIRTH PHILOSOPHY

Every birthing person deserves unconditional compassionate support as they journey through pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
Every family deserves to be empowered with knowledge to make their own unique decisions in birth.
Birth is a natural, normal event. It is not pathological.
Labor can hold intensity and pain, but it does not have to hold suffering. Non-pharmacological comfort measures should be offered and supported.
Parents who birth their babies surgically (via Cesarean) are brave and strong and deserve support in a peaceful birth environment.
A birther and their baby are a single unit, intimately entwined and dependent on one another. This bond should be honored and respected. A healthy, supported birthing parent will ensure a healthy baby.
The emotional bond between a birthing person and the partner is key during birth. A strong connection between partners during birth should be encouraged and supported.
Intuition is key in the birthing process. Pregnant bodies hold great wisdom, as the parent is intimately attuned to their baby's presence and needs.
Childbirth can be unpredictable, challenging, and even traumatic. Space must be held for this to be the experience of some birthing people, without minimizing difficult emotions and experiences.
Birth is an emotionally and spiritually transformative experience.
Every birth is sacred.
